During my CNY holiday, finding a free time to build my 1st homemade plane. With the plan taken from www.mugi.co.uk, I start the build up by printing plan, cutting plan, cutting twinwall or impraboard, joining the parts and tada the shape is coming out.

Cutting twinwall or impraboard is actually quite easy, as recommended just use a sharp cutter and you doesn’t have put to much pressure to cut. It will cleanly cut the twinwall. The tools I use is pretty simple, just small cutter and a triangle ruler.

In order to fit the wing to the plane, i made a cut but due to inexperience the cut is just too deep. There are space between the joint between wing and fuselage. I am not really sure will that effect the flying characteristics of the plane but sure enough it got more ventilation. ha2.

The electronics now is installed and after some transmitter programming, I am ready to maiden the plane.

Electronics used on the plane:
1. 3 Servos HXT900
3. 1100kv Outrunner motor
4. Simple ESC 20A

Guys if you have experience in building please share it here.

Being to the world of RC is so much fun and entertaining, although sometimes you might spend too much time in it and less time with your family. he2. Just want to share with fellow electric flyer, especially when you are charging your lipos. Lipo fire is real, if you are not careful. We can have fun but safety always the first priority. It is better be safe than sorry.

Flyer in US left his lipo charge without supervision and get firefighter came to his home, and see what was found :

This education video shown how a battery might burnt if it overcharged.

Few tips to share :
1. Always set charge rate low, and max 1amp. Yes we do not have much time, but always remember it is always better to be safe.
2. Use a reliable and good charger. I am myself using this charger. so far so good.
3. Power up your charger with good power source.
4. Always use battery bunkers or lipo sack.
5. Never never leave your lipo battery charge without supervision.
6. It is always good to be patient.
7. Have fun flying.

Find this great article in the rc forum about how to read and select power system for you plane. Enjoy and have fun flying.

Anyway I am browsing around and notice this Iphone apps by Ari Krupnik. He develops iPhone apps that controlled all DSM2 compatible receiver. With a RF transmitter module + iPhly, you will be able to fly your DSM2 compatible plane with your iPhone. Nice apps Ari. Complete details as click here.
